The PSS STC/RF Door Installation Training is a hands-on, physical installation course designed for door installers working with acoustic (STC) and RF-shielded (TEMPEST) door systems. This two-day course gives installers a complete start-to-finish installation experience with the industry’s leading STC and RF door assemblies, including Palmer’s flagship PSS STC/RF Door System and the Overly STC 50 and 52 models that our system is built upon. Each participant completes two full door installations and works in small groups with tools in hand throughout both days.

This dual-certification structure gives installers a stronger, more versatile certification and gives end users confidence that their secure space doors are installed correctly the first time.

What the Training Covers

During the course, participants will learn about proper wall construction to support SCIF doors, essential tools, and step-by-step installation techniques. The hands-on portion involves start-to-finish installation exercises with our PSS STC/RF door systems and Overly’s STC door systems, requiring participants to lift up to 100lbs.

To ensure proper attenuation and mitigation best practices, PSS requires certified installers to install all PSS door systems.

Participants work in small groups (2–4 per door set) through the whole installation process, including:

  • Frame anchoring and squaring
  • Shim placement and plumb/level adjustments
  • Hardware prep and mounting
  • Seal systems, gasketing, and thresholds
  • Final adjustments for optimized STC/RF performance
  • Testing techniques and verification steps
  • Installation demonstrations for inward, outward, and double-door sets

PSS instructors guide every step, ensuring each participant gains meaningful, practical experience.
